MK179 with PROXIMITY card reader is a card reader designed for use with 12 volt direct current (VDC). It utilizes two cards that are manufactured by Velleman. The unit is made up of a card reader module, with a keyhole-shaped slot into which the card is inserted in order to be read. The unit can be connected to a 12VDC power source, such as an alarm system, to allow access control. By inserting a card into the slot, the reader will be able to read its information and grant or deny access, depending on the configuration of the system.
