The Texas Instruments TCAN1042VDRQ1 is an automotive fault-protected CAN transceiver with I/O Level Shifting and Flexible Data-Rate. This 8-SOIC part operates over an extended temperature range of -55 to 125°C, and is designed to interface with a Controller Area Network (CAN). The TCAN1042VDRQ1 contains a differential reliable transceiver with an asymmetrical output drive capability for improved noise immunity. The I/O level shifting allows connection to logic levels of 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V and 5V. It also facilitates a low power shutdown mode and includes a built-in thermal shutdown circuit with an automatic fault confinement feature. The available data rates go up to 1 Mbit/s, and the device provides fault coverage on CAN_H and CAN_L with a 50 kO termination resistor.
