The SN74LS161ANSR is a 4-bit synchronous binary counter integrated circuit (IC) manufactured by Texas Instruments. It is designed to count the number of pulses or events occurring on its inputs in a sequence. The counter has an asynchronous preset and clear output. It operates using TTL logic levels (low level 0V and high levels between 3.8V and 6V) and requires two power supply options between 5V and 15V. The SN74LS161ANSR features four outputs that change logic levels synchronously with the rising edge of the clock enable input signal. The counter has a maximum ripple of 0.5 ns, a data hold time of 5.5 ns and a typical clock frequency of 4 MHz. It is useful for counting pulse frequency and applications requiring binary coded decimal (BCD) decoding. It is capable of interface with other ICs and bus systems that use the ECL architecture. The SN74LS161ANSR is available in a 16 pin plastic dual-in-line package (PDIP).
