The SN74HC164DR is an 8-bit, parallel-out, serial-in shift register manufactured by Texas Instruments. It is designed for use in logic circuits and can be used to count or shift data. The register has an asynchronous serial input for serial data loading, parallel three-state outputs, and an active-low output-enable line. This allows for faster data transfer rates and increased system performance. Additionally, the device features low transient current (Icc) and is a CMOS device that is fabricated in Texas Instruments' advanced CMOS logic process. The SN74HC164DR is a low-power device that can operate on a supply voltage from 2V to 6V. It is available in a 14-pin plastic Dual-in-Line (DIP) package and a 16-pin small outline integrated circuit (SOIC) package.
