The MAX3232IDR from Texas Instruments is a 3-5.5V Mult-Channel RS-232 Interface IC with true RS-232 compatibility. It is designed for operation in applications requiring three to five drivers and receivers and combines and integrates a 0.1µF external charge pump and 15KV ESD protection circuitry. The MAX3232IDR features enhanced ESD protection that can tolerate ±15KV human body model stress and is capable of achieving data rates of up to 250kbps. This IC is designed to support true RS-232 signaling for operation from a 3.3V or 5.0V power supply, making it ideal for battery powered RS-232 applications. The MAX3232IDR also supports remote wake-up from a Sleep or Deep Sleep mode with a small 3µA current draw and shutdown for power-sensitive applications.
