Davis' career
Tasker Davis served in the United States Army Air Forces as a pilot during the Second World War. He was assigned to the 113th Bombardment Squadron, First Air Command, as a staff sergeant pilot. During his service in the 113th, he flew 29 bombing missions over Europe, including one of the longest in the European theatre. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Air Medal with seven oak leaf clusters for his service. After the war, he worked for 25 years as an airline pilot for United.
