CorporationThe PC817X2YIPW is a bipolar silicon avalanche photo diode with a Type 2 integrated photorelay family from Sharp Microelectronics, manufactured by Sharp Corporation. It is designed to sense light signals and consists of a photosensitive semiconductor element with a photodetector and an LED connected in series between the input and output terminals. The part includes an integrated MOSFET drive transistor in the package, allowing the device to be operated directly from a voltage source up to 7V. The bipolar structure gives it the ability to detect polarised light. The photon detection level is low, at 500 nW/cm2. The device has a very fast response time at 150 ns, and has a minimum delay time of 1 µs. It has reverse voltage protection up to 7V, as well as a high resistance to electric noise and transient voltage surge. It is RoHS compliant and is suitable for use in various automotive, industrial, medical, and consumer applications.
