micro switch is a family of push-button switches produced by Sensata Technologies that are commonly used to detect the presence or absence of an object. The micro switch design contains a shell that is equipped with two metal contacts that ulitize a spring. When an object is in contact with the switch, the contacts are held together by the spring and a connection is made. When the object is removed, the contacts separate due to the springs and the connection is broken. These small, precision switches are rated to last more than one billion operations and are available with a variety of actuator types and termination options.
