A fingerprint sensor is a small device used to capture and store a person's unique fingerprint for the purpose of identity recognition and authentication. The Seeed Studio fingerprint sensor is a capacitive type of fingerprint sensor which uses capacitive sensing technology to read an image of a person's fingerprint and then stores that fingerprint in its memory.
The fingerprint sensor is connected to a controller, typically either a microcontroller or a Raspberry Pi, and scans the finger each time the user enters their details. Advanced algorithms are then used to recognize the finger and the user is authenticated. The fingerprint sensor is designed to be used in low-cost, DIY projects, and provides easy integration with most microcontrollers and Raspberry Pi models.
