Quasi-Resonant Controller, Power Factor Corrected, Analog/Digital Dimmable www.onsemi.com NCL30186 The NCL30186 is a controller targeting isolated and nonisolated smartdimmable constantcurrent LED drivers. Designed to support SOIC10 flyback, buckboost, and SEPIC topologies, its proprietary current CASE 751BQ control algorithm provides nearunity power factor and tightly regulates a constant LED current from the primary side, thus eliminating the need MARKING DIAGRAM for a secondaryside feedback circuitry or an optocoupler. Housed in the SOIC10 which has the same body size as a standard SOIC8, the NCL30186 is specifically intended for very compact L30186x ALYW spaceefficient designs. The device is highly integrated with a minimum number of external components. A robust suite of safety protections is built in to simplify the design. To ensure reliable operation at elevated temperatures, a user configurable current L30186x = Specific Device Code foldback circuit is also provided. In addition, it supports analog and x = A, B, C, D PWM dimming with a dedicated dimming input intended to control A = Assembly Location the average LED current. L = Wafer Lot Pintopin compatible to the NCL30086, the NCL30186 provides Y = Year W = Work Week the same benefits with in addition, an increased resolution of the = Pb-Free Package digital currentcontrol algorithm for a 75% reduction in the LED current quantization ripple.
