It is designed for use in low-frequency analog and digital circuits, such as audio pre-amplifiers, AGC circuits, and tone control circuits. It has a maximum collector-emitter voltage of 45V and a collector current of up to 0.5A. It has a low noise figure of 0.3dB and a high gain of up to 230 at 100MHz.
