SY89229U 1GHz Precision, LVDS 3, 5 Clock Divider with Fail Safe Input and Internal Termination General Description The SY89229U is a precision, low jitter 1GHz 3, 5 Precision Edge clock divider with an LVDS output. A unique Fail- Features Safe Input (FSI) protection prevents metastable Accepts a high-speed input and provides a precision output conditions when the input clock voltage swing 3 and 5 sub-rate, LVDS output drops significantly below 100mV or input is removed. Fail-Safe Input The differential input includes Micrels unique, 3-pin internal termination architecture that allows the input Prevents oscillations when input is invalid to interface to any differential signal (AC- or DC- Guaranteed AC performance over temperature and coupled) as small as 100mV (200mV ) without any PP supply voltage: level shifting or termination resistor networks in the DC-to >1.0GHz throughput signal path. The outputs are 325mV, 100K- <1500ps Propagation Delay (In-to-Q) compatible LVDS with fast rise/fall times guaranteed <220ps Rise/Fall times to be less than 220ps. Ultra-low jitter design: The SY89229U operates from a 2.5V 5% supply <1ps random jitter RMS and is guaranteed over the full industrial <1ps cycle-to-cycle jitter RMS temperature range of 40C to +85C. The <10ps total jitter (clock) PP SY89229U is part of Micrels high-speed, Precision <0.7ps MUX crosstalk induced jitter RMS Edge product line.
