MxL7218 Data Sheet Dual 18A or Single 36A Power Module General Description Features The MxL7218 is a dual channel, 18A step-down power Dual 18A or single 36A output module. It includes a wide 4.5V to 15V input voltage range Input voltage range: 4.5V to 15V and supports two outputs each with an output voltage range of 0.6V to 1.8V, set by a single external resistor. The Output voltage range: 0.6V to 1.8V MxL7218 requires only a few input and output capacitors, Multiphase current sharing with multiple MxL7218s which simplifies design and shortens time-to-market. The for up to 216A output module supplies either two 18A outputs, a single 36A output or up to 216A when paralleled with additional MxL7218 Frequency synchronization modules. A unique package design where inductors are Differential remote sense amplifier mounted externally and careful component selection result in Peak current mode architecture for fast transient higher efficiency and extended operating range relative to response devices with the same industry standard pinout. Adjustable switching frequency (400kHz to 780kHz) The complete switch mode DC/DC power supply integrates the control, drivers, bootstrap diodes, bootstrap capacitors, Overcurrent protection inductors, MOSFETs and HF bypass capacitors in a single Output overvoltage protection package for point-of-load conversions. Internal temperature monitor and thermal shutdown The MxL7218 includes a temperature diode that enables protection device temperature monitoring. It also has an adjustable Thermally enhanced 16mm x 16mm x 5.01mm BGA switching frequency and utilizes a peak current mode architecture which allows fast line and load transient package response. Applications A host of protection features, including overcurrent, over- temperature, output overvoltage and UVLO, help this module Telecom and Networking Equipment achieve safe operation under abnormal operating conditions.
