The Intersil IP2161 is a Battery Management System in a 6 pin SOT-23 package with RoHS compliance. It is a fully integrated, low-cost single cell battery charger and protection solution with the ability to support Li-ion, Li-polymer and NiMH batteries. The IP2161 provides two features: a Battery Chargers (BC1 and BC2) with an integrated Linear Regulation (LR) for totally independent charging and a Battery Protection (BP) for system-level battery protection. The BC1 and BC2 are able to regulate the charging currents down to 100 mA with ±2%. The LR output provides high current up to 1.5A. The BP section has a programmable over-charge protection, over-discharge protection and short-circuit protection. The IP2161 is one of the smallest package options for a single cell battery charger with protection available and is ideal for battery-backed applications.
