's Model
Eaton's Model is a model of the mental health care system proposed by the Canadian psychiatrist and professor Evan D. Eaton. The model is composed of three parts: the Supportive System of Care (SSC), the System of Specialized Services and Supports (SSS) and the System of Youth Support (SSY).
The SSY is the third part of the model and is aimed at young people who may have mental health problems and are not yet receiving any specialized services or supports. It focuses on providing basic assistance, such as housing support, employment assistance, and educational opportunities. This part of the model also seeks to address the unequal access those aged 20 and younger may face in accessing mental health services. The SSY also works to address needs arising from social and emotional issues including aggression, substance use, parenting support, and overall emotional and behavioural development.
