The 1N4007 is a 1 Amp, 1000V, high-speed switching diode, used for general rectification applications. It belongs to a family of general-purpose diodes, the most popular being the 1N4001. The 1N4007 is a silicon diode with a double diffused junction. It is designed to offer high surge capacity, high velocity of surge and to withstand high temperatures with an excellent reverse power rating. It is used in circuits to regulate AC input power, to reduce the noise generated by electric motors and to protect circuits from unexpected power surge.
