Bossard is a commune in the Charente department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of southwestern France. The population of the commune was 1,267 at the 2017 census. The commune is situated some 40 km north-west of Angoulême and 15 km south-east of Cognac and borders the department of Deux-Sèvres. The commune covers an area of 56.3 square kilometres and is mostly rural with a few small hamlets, scattered farmsteads and isolated dwellings throughout. The main population centre is the village of Bossard, located in the south-west corner of the commune. The village is home to the mairie, a small church and several small businesses. The local economy is mainly agricultural with cereals, beef, horticulture and a small amount of forestry activity. The surrounding terrain is mainly flat with a few gentle hills and is crossed by several rivers, streams and small ponds.
