19-5359 Rev 11/10 71M6511/71M6511H Single-Phase Energy Meter IC A Maxim Integrated Products Brand DATA SHEET NOVEMBER 2010 FEATURES GENERAL DESCRIPTION The 71M6511 is a highly integrated SOC with an MPU core, RTC, flash, Wh accuracy < 0.1% over 2000:1 and LCD driver. Our Single Converter Technology with a 22-bit delta- range sigma ADC, three analog inputs, digital temperature compensation, Exceeds IEC 62053/ANSIC 12.20 precision voltage reference, and 32-bit computation engine (CE) supports a Voltage reference wide range of single-phase metering applications with very few low cost external components. A 32kHz crystal time base for the entire system and < 10ppm/ C -- 71M6511H, internal battery backup support for RAM and RTC further reduce system < 50ppm/C -- 71M6511 cost. Three sensor inputs - V referenced DD 2 Low jitter Wh/VARh pulse outputs Maximum design flexibility is supported with multiple UARTs, I C, a power fail comparator, a 5V LCD charge pump, up to 12 DIO pins and an in- Pulse count for pulse outputs system programmable flash. The device is offered in high (0.1%) and Four-quadrant metering standard (0.5%) accuracy versions for multifunction Voltage/current angle residential/commercial meter applications requiring multiple Line frequency count for RTC voltage/current inputs and complex LCD or DIO configurations. Digital temperature compensation A complete array of ICE and development tools, programming libraries and Sag detection reference designs enable rapid development and certification of meters that Independent 32-bit compute engine meet most demanding worldwide electricity metering standards. 40-70Hz line frequency range with same calibration CT/SHUNT LIVE Phase compensation (7) POWER SUPPLY Battery backup for RAM and RTC LOAD NEUT 22mW at 3.3V, 7.2W backup Flash memory option with security 22-bit delta-sigma ADC CONVERTER V3.3A V3.3D GNDA GNDD 8-bit MPU (80515) - 1 clock cycle per IA 5V BOOST instruction VA VDRV TERIDIAN LCD driver ( 128 pixels) V or I IB 71M6511 REGULATOR High speed SSI serial output VBAT BATTERY RTC for time-of-use functions V2.5 Hardware watchdog timer TEMP LCD DRIVER VOLTAGE REF SENSOR DIO, PULSE Up to 12 general-purpose I/O pins VREF VLCD RAM 64KB flash, 7KB RAM VBIAS 3V/5V LCD COM0..3 SERIAL PORTS SEG0..19 Two UARTs for IR and AMR 88.88.8888 SEG 24..32 FLASH TX 64-lead LQFP package DIO 0..11 AMR RX COMPUTE SEG 32..41 EEPROM ENGINE DIO 12..21 SENSE RX IR DRIVE TX COMPARATOR MPU TEST PULSES POWER V1 RTC FAULT TIMERS OSC/PLL XIN 32 kHz ICE XOUT 7/20/2007 Single Converter Technology is a registered trademark of Maxim Integrated Products, Inc.
