Linear Displacement Sensors
Linear displacement sensors are devices that measure linear distance along a given axis. They can be used to measure linear variables such as position, velocity, acceleration, and displacement. Linear displacement sensors typically consist of a sensing element and a contact point, which when combined create a linear measuring system. Linear displacement sensors use various technologies to generate electrical signals that correspond to the linear displacement. Common technologies for linear displacement sensors include magnetostrictive, variable reluctance, inductive, capacitive, and optical. Depending on the type of linear displacement sensor, the output signal can be either analog, digital, or both.
