Toshiba Universal Flash Storage - UFS
Universal Flash Storage (UFS) is a storage standard that provides high-performance, high-capacity mobile storage. It’s based on the flash memory that’s used in solid state drives (SSD). UFS is a next-generation, high-speed interface between mobile phones and the flash memory. UFS enables faster data transfer speeds, improved operational and power efficiency, along with enhanced advanced features for mobile devices. It has a high data transfer rate, up to 5.8 Gigabytes per second read speed and 2.9 Gigabytes per second write speed, which is much faster than a standard SATA hard drive or SSD. Additionally, UFS utilizes a protocol that enables multiple memory devices to communicate with the host, allowing for better overall performance. UFS is designed to be a more power efficient alternative to its predecessor eMMC by providing low power states, so it can extend the battery life of a mobile device.
