About Thyristor Surge Protection Devices - TSPD
Will Semiconductor Thyristor Surge Protection Devices - TSPD
Thyristor Surge Protection Devices (TSPD) are protective devices that are used to protect electrical systems and devices from surges in voltage. They are designed to detect surges in voltage and then limit the amount of current that is allowed to pass through the protected device. The TSPD works by using a solid state semiconductor material, usually a thyristor, to “short” the line if a surge is detected. The result is a reduction of current through the protected device and thus a reduction of damage. TSPDs are also known as Thyristor Gas Discharge (TGD) devices.
