Laird Connectivity Power over Ethernet - PoE
Power over Ethernet, or PoE, is a technology that allows electrical power to be transmitted over standard Ethernet cables. The power is provided by a special PoE-enabled switch or by an external power source. This allows devices that could otherwise need an external power connection to use a single Ethernet cable for both data and power. This reduces the number of cables needed and the complexity associated with installing and maintaining the network. Some of the common applications of PoE are VoIP phones, wireless access points, IP Surveillance Cameras, and IoT Sensors.
