Vishay Infrared Emitters - High Power

Infrared emitters, or infrared LED emitters, are electric components used to produce light with an infrared wavelength. Generally, infrared emitters employ gallium arsenide, gallium arsenide phosphide, or aluminium gallium arsenide as the substrate material, embedded in which are an infrared-emitting diode or chip. These infrared emitters can generate beams of light with wavelengths ranging from 0.75 to 10 microns. Unlike visible light, the infrared light emitted is not visible to the human eye, but can be detected by infrared sensors. High power infrared emitters are typically used in security systems and video surveillance cameras. They are also used to determine a person’s presence in a room or area, such as to turn on lights, dim them at will, or to trigger an alarm when someone enters an area. For industrial applications, infrared emitters can be used to detect movement, orientation, speed, and vibrations. They are also used in medical imaging, optical communication, and medical treatments.
