MP5018 5V, 1A-5A Current Limit Switch with Reverse Current Blocking and Output Over-voltage Clamp The Future of Analog IC Technology DESCRIPTION FEATURES The MP5018 is a protection device designed to SAS Disable to support DEVSLP or protect circuitry on the output from transients on POWER DOWN input (V ). It also protects V from undesired CC CC 4.5V to 5.5V Continued Operating Input shorts and transients coming from the output. Range At startup, inrush current is limited by the slew 16V Absolute Maximum Input Voltage rate at the output. The slew rate is controlled by 5.8V Fast OVP Response a small capacitor at the SS pin. Floating the SS Reverse Current Blocking pin provides 13ms soft-start time. Integrated 45m Power FET Adjustable Current-Limit or Fixed Current The maximum load at the output is current Limit when floating ILIMIT pin limited. The magnitude of the current limit is 210 A Typical Low Quiescent Current controlled by an external resistor from ILIMIT to Adjustable Soft Start time GND. Floating ILIMIT pin provides 3A fixed Fault Indication current limit. By controlling the gate voltage of a Latch-off Thermal Protection pair of N-channel MOSFETs, any current flowing from output to input is blocked. Available in QFN12(2mmx3mm) Package ESD Compliant to 2kV HBM and 1kV Under Voltage Lockout (UVLO) assures that CDM input is above the minimum operating threshold, before the power device is turned on. If input APPLICATIONS voltage goes above 5.8V, the output voltage will HDD, SSD be limited at 5.8V with fast response. Hot Swap Systems The EN/Fault pin is a bi-directional, three-level Gaming I/O with a weak pull-up. It can be used to Set-top Boxes/Smart TV enable or disable MP5018, or indicate a fault PCIe Cards condition. Switches/Routers The device is available in a QFN12 (2mmx3mm) All MPS parts are lead-free and adhere to the RoHS directive.
