The Arduino WiFi Shield (Integrated Antenna) is an expansion board for the Arduino microcontroller that allows it to connect to a wireless network. It features an on-board CC3000 chip that can connect the Arduino to any 802.11b/g or n network with the integrated antenna, or to any network with an external antenna (not included). With this shield in addition to the WiFi capabilities, the Arduino is also able to act as a server because of the TCP/IP stack and HTTP/HTTPS support. The shield allows the Arduino to receive and send data through functions such as TCP, UDP, HTTP and HTTPS, as well as data management features like JSON, XML, and webpages. With the integrated antenna, the range of the connection depends on the environment, usually about 50m.
